And no, you don’t have to wait for official firmwares to come out from Samsung, which will probably take weeks or months more from now on.
For those of you who want to root your AT&T SGH-i337 Galaxy S4, Verizon SCH-i545 Galaxy S4, or Galaxy S4 Active on Android 4.4.2, there’s finally a new root method that will root your S4. This root method also works on all Galaxy S4 models and does NOT trip Knox!

This root method works for Android 4.3, 4.4.2/4.4.3/4.4.4 KitKat, and 5.0.1 Lollipop!
Why another method?
Well, at the time of this video, some models do not have CWM recovery available. But TWRP recovery is just as good as CWM recovery and installation is nearly identical but using different menus.
Here’s “CWM Method” of rooting your Samsung Galaxy S4.
Currently, this root method is only for the GT-i9500, GT-i9505, AT&T SGH-i337, Sprint SPH-L720, and Korean (E300S, E300K, E300L) until we have a stable, working CWM recovery for other models.
This root method works on Android 4.4.2 KitKat, 4.3 Jelly Bean and Android 4.4.2 KitKat for all models except AT&T SGH-i337. For SGH-i337, this root method works on 4.3 Jelly Bean and Android 4.4.2 KitKat.

Here’s a quick wrap-up of some cool CruzerLite Galaxy S4 cases.
Probably the TPU cases from CruzerLite are my favorite as they are very thin while protecting your Galaxy S4 from scratches, falls from 10 feet, and it’s a really nicely-designed case that protects your phone well. I’ve done some drop tests with them with my Note 2, S4, Nexus 5, and never once I had even a scratch on my screen. Check out my latest drop test with CruzerLite TPU case with the Nexus 5, which clearly proves you that a case can protect your screen, which is the most valuable ($200-250 to repair broken screen) part of your Galaxy S4, nevermind the scratch-protection for your frame.
For this week’s AT&T Galaxy S4 SGH-i337 ROM of the Week, check out Graviton ROM.

That alone is probably good enough reason to install this custom ROM but let me explain some of the main core features.

Sacs ROM has been developed by XDA users Sac23, who has been making some excellent custom ROMs in the last few years that I have been following him. So, definitely you can’t go wrong with this ROM.
Android 4.4.2 stock firmware has been pushed out to non-rooted users in the last few weeks and for those of you who have not upgraded via OTA (over-the-air), you might actually be in a better position than those who did.
First, the Android 4.4.2 stock firmware update brings you an updated 4.4.2 bootloader, which may not allow you to downgrade to Jelly Bean custom ROMs.
For this week’s Galaxy S4 ROM of the week, check out the latest Gummy ROM! (Available for AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, Canadian, GT-i9505, or any LTE-enabled S4.)

Everything is working out of the box including data (to get 4G LTE working fully, dial “*#*#4636#*#*” then choose “LTE/CDMA/GSM”), Photosphere camera, and no additives added other than highly-tweakable KTweaker kernel, which comes with KTweaker app so you can easily overclock and undervolt your CPU/GPU.
For those of you who have been waiting to install custom ROM on your Verizon Galaxy S4 with ME7, ME7, MI1, MJ7, or MK2 firmware or AT&T Galaxy S4 with MF3, MK2, NB1, or NC1 firmware, there’s finally a new method using SafeStrap Recovery by XDA user Hashcode.
For those of you who want root on your Samsung Galaxy S4 Active, here’s an easy way to do it.
Before we begin, this root method is for the latest firmware ending in UCUAMF3 (check this under Settings->About device). If you have a newer firmware, this root method may or may not work (I have no way to tell since I don’t have a time machine.) but should be safe to do.
For those of you who just picked up a brand, new Verizon Galaxy S4 SCH-i545, there’s a root method out now.
Currently, Verizon Galaxy S4 bootloader is locked, meaning you cannot use CWM or TWRP root method.
Also, the VRUAMDK kernel on the Verizon Galaxy S4 comes with SU-co*k-block which makes it hard to root.
This tutorial is for those of you with Loki’d unlocked bootloader on the AT&T SGH-i337 or Verizon SCH-i545, DO NOT FOLLOW THIS GUIDE IF YOU HAVE ANDROID 4.3 OR HIGHER ON AT&T OR VERIZON. If you already have CWM or TWRP recovery installed, that means you can follow this guide. If you have Safestrap recovery, that means your phone is on the locked bootloader so DO NOT FOLLOW THIS GUIDE!
