For this week’s GT-i9500 ROM of the week, check out Crash ROM by XDA developer Crash 1976.
I’ve used Crash ROM before on my Galaxy Note 1 and Note 2 and the developer of this ROM is pretty talented to say the least in making some awesome, stable ROMs.
Crash ROM is a bit similar to WanamLite ROM but slightly different. This version of Crash ROM for the GT-i9500 S4 comes slightly themed in blue along with goodies like Screen-off NFC, Sony Album (much faster than S4 Gallery), lots of wallpapers, CRT-off animation, call button in Contacts, and best of all, no bloatware.
It is geared for those of you who want a highly, efficient custom ROM with no bloatware and added performance with better battery life. The ROM has been tweaked so it should run much faster with longer battery life over stock. It even comes with stuff like Fast Dormancy (which can save your battery life) and performance tweaks under the hood.
Also you can use STweaks app it comes with to underclock your phone (for better battery life), overclock your GPU (faster graphics performance), or tweak the audio outputs to be much louder.
If you are looking for a good stable ROM with no bloatware and added features, check out Crash ROM for this week(end) and do let me know what you think!
What is a Custom ROM?
A custom ROM is a custom, modified operating system that you can install on your Android device. Basically it's like installing Windows OS on a Macbook. By installing a custom ROM, you can bypass stock factory settings like locked hotspot tether, install new Android versions early, or even convert your phone into another OS.
With a custom ROM, you can really maximize the capabilities of your smartphone by adding custom features that have been developed by open source developers.
How to Install Custom ROMs
First, you will need to root your device, if it is not rooted yet, follow our root tutorial and root your phone.
Once rooted, you should have TWRP installed on your phone. Installation of a custom ROM is easy if you learn the basic of it. If you don't know how to install custom ROMs using TWRP recovery, see our tutorial on How to Install Custom ROM using TWRP!
