For this week’s GT-i9500 Galaxy S4 ROM of the week, check out Neat ROM. Based on Android 4.2.2 TouchWiz firmware, Neat ROM brings you a ton of features through great MODs like X-Blast Settings, Wanam Xposed Settings, and Xposed App Settings(for running your apps in tablet/custom DPI mode).
Some notable features include XXUBMG1 camera (best camera to date), transparent status bar, ink effects, call-recording, and more.
Through X-Blast Settings you will be able to easily customize your status bar, enable Full Photo Caller ID (displays full photo when someone you know calls you), change drop-down image, and customize your quick toggle/tiles.
Wanam Xposed Settings also brings you a ton more features like Volume-up torch when your screen is off, change long-press Home key, enable dark theme for multi-window flashbar, and a much more.
Overall, Neat ROM looks like one on the right track to bring you more customization than you can ever imagine on the GT-i9500. This is definitely a great ROM for those of you who want to tweak every part of your phone while keeping TouchWiz stability and firmware.
If this is something you are looking for, definitely check it out this week(end) and do let me know what you think!
What is a Custom ROM?
A custom ROM is a custom, modified operating system that you can install on your Android device. Basically it's like installing Windows OS on a Macbook. By installing a custom ROM, you can bypass stock factory settings like locked hotspot tether, install new Android versions early, or even convert your phone into another OS.
With a custom ROM, you can really maximize the capabilities of your smartphone by adding custom features that have been developed by open source developers.
How to Install Custom ROMs
First, you will need to root your device, if it is not rooted yet, follow our root tutorial and root your phone.
Once rooted, you should have TWRP installed on your phone. Installation of a custom ROM is easy if you learn the basic of it. If you don't know how to install custom ROMs using TWRP recovery, see our tutorial on How to Install Custom ROM using TWRP!
