For those of you complaining there’s not enough Sprint S4 custom ROMs for your Sprint S4, we have some good news for you. You can easily install any Verizon S4 custom ROMs on your Sprint S4 as well. Yes, we are talking about TouchWiz Android 4.4.2 ROMs.
UPDATE: This method also works fine on Sprint Note 3 (flash Verizon Note 3 ROM on Sprint Note 3). Tested working fine also on Sprint S5 (flash Verizon S5 ROM), Sprint S3 (flash Verizon S3 ROM). DOES NOT WORK ON Sprint Note 2!
Step 1. Install the Verizon S4 custom ROM along with KTweaker kernel. In my example, I used Echo ROM Verizon Port along with Sprint KTweaker kernel, you can get them here:
UPDATE: I found out you actually don’t need to flash a custom kernel, you can just flash the ROM by itself as Verizon ROMs are fully compatible with Sprint.
(I assume you know how to install custom ROMs and you have a rooted Galaxy S4. If not, please root your S4 first then also read up on How to Install Custom ROM on Galaxy S4 first!)

Step 2. Next, go and find Mobile Network settings, most likely under Settings->More networks.
Choose “Access Point Names”, this is also called “APN”.
Step 3. Next, make sure “Preferred network mode” is set to “LTE/CDMA”.
Step 4. Next choose “Access Point Names”.
Step 5.Hit the “+” button to add APN.
Step 6. Copy the Sprint 4G LTE APN Settings and save.
Step 7. Make sure you choose/switch to your new APN, the green light should appear. You should immediately see at least 3G showing and working flawless.
Step 8. If you don’t get 4G LTE right away, simply reboot and so long as you have 4G LTE signals, you will also get 4G LTE on Sprint’s network. That’s it! Also SMS/MMS and calls should be working just fine on Sprint’s network. And your phone should automatically use Sprint PRL so you don’t have to worry about that. Enjoy!
Q: The ROM is not booting!
A: Try formatting /system and re-install ROM, sometimes the system partition gets corrupt and you may have to try 2 or 3 times before the ROM boots.
Q: How can I thank you for your tutorial?
A: I don’t take donations but if you could PLEASE subscribe to my Zedomax YouTube channel, that would help me greatly and thank you!
What is a Custom ROM?
A custom ROM is a custom, modified operating system that you can install on your Android device. Basically it's like installing Windows OS on a Macbook. By installing a custom ROM, you can bypass stock factory settings like locked hotspot tether, install new Android versions early, or even convert your phone into another OS.
With a custom ROM, you can really maximize the capabilities of your smartphone by adding custom features that have been developed by open source developers.
How to Install Custom ROMs
First, you will need to root your device, if it is not rooted yet, follow our root tutorial and root your phone.
Once rooted, you should have TWRP installed on your phone. Installation of a custom ROM is easy if you learn the basic of it. If you don't know how to install custom ROMs using TWRP recovery, see our tutorial on How to Install Custom ROM using TWRP!
