For this week’s Sprint Galaxy S4 SPH-L720 ROM of the week, check out latest version of NegaLite Wonde ROM.
Probably my favorite Sprint S4 ROM of all time, NegaLite ROM is a no-brainer Sprint firmware-based custom ROM that’s going to get you the best features without losing your Samsung features.
Some of my favorite features include long-press menu app kill button, call recording, awesome transition animations, wifi tether app (for tethering 3G/4G LTE), and some more.
For audio, you will get the latest Viper4Android FX MOD, that allows you to tweak your sound to the fullest. (See our Viper4Android Demo Video Here.)
For UI/system customization, NegaLite ROM ships with Wanam Xposed app, which is definitely my favorite as it’s 100% free and does more than other apps out there. (See our Wanam Xposed app demo here.)
For kernels, you get a choice between stock, KTweaker, Agat, and Chronic kernels. My favorite is KTweaker kernel as it supports nice overclocking up to 2.3Ghz.
Other performance tweaks allow the NegaLite ROM run many times faster over stock and battery life is excellent.
Of course, you do get to choose most of these features in its graphical AROMA installer so you can easily customize just the features/apps you want.
What is a Custom ROM?
A custom ROM is a custom, modified operating system that you can install on your Android device. Basically it's like installing Windows OS on a Macbook. By installing a custom ROM, you can bypass stock factory settings like locked hotspot tether, install new Android versions early, or even convert your phone into another OS.
With a custom ROM, you can really maximize the capabilities of your smartphone by adding custom features that have been developed by open source developers.
How to Install Custom ROMs
First, you will need to root your device, if it is not rooted yet, follow our root tutorial and root your phone.
Once rooted, you should have TWRP installed on your phone. Installation of a custom ROM is easy if you learn the basic of it. If you don't know how to install custom ROMs using TWRP recovery, see our tutorial on How to Install Custom ROM using TWRP!
