For this week’s Verizon Galaxy S4 SCH-i545 ROM of the week, check out BoneStock ROM!

Based on the latest ME7 firmware (with support for App2SD and HDR camera), BoneStock ROM is a near stock-like ROM but with features you need and ability to uninstall bloatware you don’t want with an AROMA graphical installer (watch latter part of video for AROMA demo).

I know many of you are crazy about updating and if you are, this ROM is going to give you that plus many features over stock you will not regret.

For UI customization, BoneStock ROM comes with ROM control allowing you to easily switch to an AOSP lockscreen, enable screen-off Torch, enable volume key music control, tweak your clock, alarm, battery bar, and much more.

Mobile hotspot also works out of the box and menu button can be enabled as app killer.  Also multi-window has been enabled for all apps natively.

Although my favorite ROM on Verizon S4 that’s stock-like is Jelly Beans ROM but since that ROM isn’t updated yet to ME7 yet, you can give BoneStock ROM a go and get the latest firmware plus many features. ¬†

If this is something you are looking for (as I know many of you are), give it a twhirl this week(end) and do let me know what you think!

What is a Custom ROM?

A custom ROM is a custom, modified operating system that you can install on your Android device. Basically it's like installing Windows OS on a Macbook. By installing a custom ROM, you can bypass stock factory settings like locked hotspot tether, install new Android versions early, or even convert your phone into another OS.

With a custom ROM, you can really maximize the capabilities of your smartphone by adding custom features that have been developed by open source developers.

How to Install Custom ROMs

First, you will need to root your device, if it is not rooted yet, follow our root tutorial and root your phone.

Once rooted, you should have TWRP installed on your phone. Installation of a custom ROM is easy if you learn the basic of it. If you don't know how to install custom ROMs using TWRP recovery, see our tutorial on How to Install Custom ROM using TWRP!

Do you have to install a recovery before this can be flashed?
    I’m rooted on ME7 but haven’t installed a recovery.

You will be unable to flash this as the me7 bootloader has yet to be unlocked, thus, no custom recovery available and no flashing.
