For this week’s Verizon Galaxy S4 ROM of the week, check out latest Jelly Beans ROM Build 7!
The biggest change on the latest Build 7 of Jelly Beans ROM is the firmware base, now it is based on the latest Verizon ME7 firmware, meaning you will get the latest App2SD and HDR camera support out of the box.
For those of you who have not tried Jelly Beans ROM, it is certainly one of the best TouchWiz ROMs for the Verizon S4. (My personal TWO favorites are Jelly Beans ROM and HyperDrive ROM)
Jelly Beans ROM is a bit more geared towards those who want to keep all of your Samsung features while being able to make it perform much faster with better battery life and ton of customization.
Some of the major highlights of Jelly Beans ROM include working Verizon hotspot out of the box (yes, works without hotspot plan), multi-window enabled for all apps, long-press kill menu button, Volume Up key torch shortcut when screen off, scrolling/continuous wallpaper for TouchWiz launcher, and lots of UI/system customization through its ROM Control settings.
Jelly Beans ROM also comes with an easy-to-use AROMA graphical installer so “you” get to choose which Google/Samsung apps are installed during installation. This may be great for those of you who don’t like bloatware.
For kernels, you have choice of stock, KTweaker, or Faux kernels. (Go with KTweaker or Faux if you want overclocking)
Overall, Jelly Beans ROM is probably one of the most stable ROMs bundled with countless features that’s going to satisfy both experts and noobs so if you haven’t tried the latest version, definitely give it a go this week(end) and do let me know what you think!
What is a Custom ROM?
A custom ROM is a custom, modified operating system that you can install on your Android device. Basically it's like installing Windows OS on a Macbook. By installing a custom ROM, you can bypass stock factory settings like locked hotspot tether, install new Android versions early, or even convert your phone into another OS.
With a custom ROM, you can really maximize the capabilities of your smartphone by adding custom features that have been developed by open source developers.
How to Install Custom ROMs
First, you will need to root your device, if it is not rooted yet, follow our root tutorial and root your phone.
Once rooted, you should have TWRP installed on your phone. Installation of a custom ROM is easy if you learn the basic of it. If you don't know how to install custom ROMs using TWRP recovery, see our tutorial on How to Install Custom ROM using TWRP!
