If you are looking for a custom Android 4.2.2 ROM that gives you an entirely different experience than TouchWiz, Google Play Edition, and AOSP, definitely there’s a ROM for that called MIUI ROM.
For those of you new to custom ROMs on Android, MIUI is built by Chinese company Xaiomi, who got their feet wet on Android by making their own skinned version of Android different from everyone else. (Xaiomi did go a step further and now makes Xaiomi phones you can buy in China.)
Without a doubt, MIUI ROM has the best theme engine of all custom ROMs for Android in general. And yes, this MIUI ROM for Galaxy S4 is fully functional with pretty much everything working out of the box (except for IR sensor and TV Out). While still beta, you will still be able to enjoy 99% of MIUI ROM features like its theme capability where you can literally download hundreds of free themes including Sense, TouchWiz, and iPhone themes.
MIUI ROM features its own set of apps (you can play with) that will open your eyes to a whole new world of Android.

Make sure you install Gapps after installing ROM to get Play Store!
*IMPORTANT AT&T S4 USERS: To install ROM on AT&T S4, install ROM then install Loki-Doki.zip.
If you get bootloop while installing, try formatting /system and /data and re-install ROM, that will fix any FCs or bootloops.

I have an att s4 and am trying to flash the Miui ROM but every time I load reboot my phone its has a bunch out system ui and NFC error messages that don’t go away so I can run the Setup. Every time I flash my Roms I factory reset and wipe my cache. Can you help?
Try formatting /system and /data and do a fresh reinstall for fix!

I had the same issue. I did a full wipe ./system, /cache, /data, /preload and in advanced Dalvik-cache
Then re-flashed and it worked. I also did the gapps flash after the rom was up

So that still didn’t work.. I am running cwm for my root stuff and all I saw under advanced was the davlik cache wipe but nothing else..
Any chance of getting this to run on a Sprint S4?

Oh no, I meant most of general features, you will lose anything TouchWiz of course.

I just managed to install the MIUI ROM on my T-Mobile Galaxy S4 and my cellular data doesn’t seem to be working. I can connect to my Wi-Fi and that’s it. Can someone please help me?
Im having the same problem, everything else about this rom for t-mobile S4 is fine except my mobile data does not work. No 4g, lte, 3g, edge, nothing. please help.
Hmm, I’m running on a rooted i9508.
Managed to get the ROM installed too.
Was “stuck” at the “MI” load screen for a loooong while, then I chose to format everything as listed.
On the next boot, everything was running smooth.
Went on to install the gapps and now everything I loading as I type.
Fingers crossed, it should be up and I will know if the China Mobile 3G works on this ROM soon.
If I didn’t post any updates, it means it’s working fine.

To whoever is keen on the ROM but still having CMCC 3G,
It DOES NOT work.
I chose 3G preferred but have not managed to get 3G as yet.

I had to change APN to PTA to get data working, it will work eventually.
How do I do that?
oh, china mobile has cmnet as apn.
but everything is running on 2G on the new ROMs.

This is where the tricky bit starts.
Apparently China Mobile has 2G and 3G under different networks.
So we can change them under network operators.
However everytime I try to go manual selection of operators and after searching, the “com.android.processes” stops and it brings me out of the previous screen.
From then onwards, I’m stuck with no network and the worse part is I cannot select the option back to automatic selection.
Have been reinstalling the ROM over and over again to try to see if it works but everytime it fails me.

I have also found out that if my system language is set to Chinese, the “com.android.processes” stops.
It only disappears after I switch the language to English.
Having said that, there is no Chinese input in the English system…

just format the necessary folders.
under /mount options
Format /system and /data and try reinstall, should boot after that.

So now I have the ROM flashed properly but now I keep getting errors in my play store and it will not work at all. I have wiped the cache and davilk cache but it still will not work.
Have you tried clearing play store data in settings/applications?
Yes, that still did not fix the problem. The error is a server retrival error.
Well figured that problem out, but now I don’t have any data from my Carrier. Is anyone else not getting data on att?

im having trouble installing this rom I tried everything you said and it still doesn’t work it just stays in the boot logo where it turns orange then after a couple of minutes it resets itself and does it all over again. Can you help? :/
